ASPIMOX Tablets
HOW ASPIMOX DEFEAT PATHOGENS?
ASPIMOX (moxifloxacin) inhibits
topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV, essential for bacterial DNA
replication, repair and recombination.
BROAD SPECTRUM COVERAGE AGAINST PATHOGENS
v Aerobic
Gram-positive micro-organisms
Ø Staphylococcus aureus
(methicillin-susceptible strains only)
Ø Streptococcus
pneumonia (penciline-resistant strains)
Ø Streptococcus
epidermides (methiciline-susceptible)
Ø Streptococcus anginosus
v
Aerobic
Gram-negative micro-organisms
Ø Haemophilus influenza
Ø Haemophilus parainfluenzae
Ø Klebsiella
pneumonia
Ø Moraxella
catarrhalis
Ø Bordetella
pertussis
v
Atypical micro-organisms
§ Chlamydia
pneumonoae
§ Mycoplasma pneumonoae
§ Legionella
pneumophila
ASPIMOX HAS LEAST TENDENCY OF BACTERIAL RESISTANCE
The mechanism of action of ASPIMOX is different
from that of macrolides, beta-lactams, aminoglycosides, and tetracyclines;
therefore microorganisms resistant to these classes of drugs may be susceptible
to ASPIMOX. There is no
known cross-resistance between ASPIMOX and other classes of antimicrobials.
SUPERIOR THAN LEVOFLOXACIN IN COMMUNITY-ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA (CAP)
Moxifloxacin (ASPIMOX) therapy was efficacious and safe for elderly patients with CAP,
achieving >90% cure in all severity and age group and was associated with
faster clinical recovery than levofloxacin therapy, with a comparable safety
profile.
SUPERIOR THAN LEVOFLOXACIN AND MACROLIDES IN ABECB
5-Day Course moxifloxacin is clinically
and bacteriologically equivalent to a 7-Day course of levofloxacin in the
treatment of patients with AECB. Patients with AECBs (who were previously
treated with a macrolide) showed faster symptom relief and higher recovery
rates with moxifloxacin compared with macrolides.
Skin And soft tissue infection
For the treatment of moderate to severe
diabetics foot Infection as empiric antibiotic regimen. Moxifloxacin (ASPIMOX) is probably the most effective fluoroquinolone with extended
Gram-positive activity on the basis of in-vitro activity.
